I know it is only week 4 in the NFL season, but I am excited to see how Santonio Holmes and Ted Ginn Jr are looking thus far. Holmes who is coming off of a severe LisFranc injury seems to rejuvinated with Geno Smith at the Quarterback position.

Ted Ginn Jr is receiving an opportunity to showcase his talents at the wide receiver position rather than just being a returner. The former Buckeye receivers had big games this past Sunday.

Holmes who had a career high 154 yards receiving to go along with the go ahead touchdown to defeat the Buffalo Bills. Ginn who has been a big play machine with the Panthers scored another touchdown that was 40 yards or longer.

With Ginn and Holmes the numbers may not be mind blowing all season, but it is showing that they may be in the right position to succeed this season. In Ginn’s case he hasn’t had the opportunities that Holmes has had since being drafted in the first round by the Dolphins in 2007.

Ginn was traded after a brief stint, and never lived up to his lofty draft status to some. I know that Ginn wasn’t supposed to be Randy Moss, but when you look at his quarterbacks and style of offense during Ginn’s tenure did not put him the best positon to succeed. Catching passes from Cleo Lemon, John Beck, Chad Pennington, and Chad Henne didn’t make life easier for Ginn.

With his conifdence at a low point Ginn found some success with my 49ers. Ginn played exceptionally well as a return man, and returned a total of 4 touchdowns while with the 49ers. Ginn flourished as a return man, but did not get the reps as a wide receiver.

With the Panthers you can see that Ginn is being used to the best of the abilities. With Cam Newton having a strong arm Ginn can finally show his big play abilitiles. In Ginn’s three games he is almost at his total touchdown number during his whole three year stint with the San Francisco 49ers. I don’t know how long Ginn will keep it up, but it is good to see him flourish.

L.W.S. a.k.a Life With Sanchez made Santonio Holmes age in dog years. When Holmes first arrived in New York it seemed like an ideal fit, but as time progressed Sanchez became worse, and the footballs weren’t being thrown in Holmes direction.

The NFL has always respected Holmes as a big play threat from his days with Pittsburgh, so everyone had an idea of what the problem could have been. I don’t know if it was the lucrative contract ($50 Million) or the incumbent play of Sanchez that made Holmes take a few steps back.

Now that Geno Smith is in the fold Holmes could have a new partner in crime. I hope that things go well for Holmes, and at least receives some consideration for Comeback Player of the Year.

All in all I am happy for these former Buckeyes, and I hope they continue to ball O-H….
